The All Progressives Congress (APC) governor made the threat when he featured on NTA’s Tuesday Live programme anchored by Cyril Stober.

“Those that are calling for anyone to come and intervene in Nigeria, we are waiting for the person that would come and intervene, they would go back in body bags,” the governor said.

El-Rufai’s threat has since sparked criticisms and reactions from Nigerians and the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP.

PDP has in its reaction threatened to pull out of the peace accord, saying the threat by El-Rufus is inimical to a peaceful, free and fair election.

Ben Murray-Bruce, in his stead called on Buhari to reject the statement.

On his Twitter page, the Senator wrote: “Is this madness? President Buhari if you don’t reject this evil, this fellow will bring your government into disrepute!

“Never in Nigeria’s history have we ever had such recklessness in a public official. I urge APC to publicly repudiate this.

“In this election season, we have heard so many violence inspiring utterances and rhetoric, to the extent that I feel compelled to urge all of Nigeria’s leaders to remember that you can’t claim to be a leader and then speak like a destroyer. You must choose one or the other.”
