We are not worried about Soludo’s govt, OCHA Brigade doing lawful duties – Anambra residents
Polycarp Ifeanyi, Onitsha
Anambra residents and stakeholders have said they are not worried about Professor Chukwuma Soludo’s administration and people he selected to head various agencies in the state.
They said that they are very much comfortable with Soludo’s Administration and no matter the amount of blackmail against him would make them change their mind in re-electing him in 2025.
They added that Operation Clean Healthy Anambra (OCHA Brigade) has come to stay in Anambra State as one of the formidable agencies working assiduously to recover the state from environmental pollution.
Speaking against the backdrop of caricature made of Soludo’s African Dubai-Taiwan promise to the state and allegations making rounds on social media that Personal assistant (PA) to Deputy Governor of Edo State, Hon. Nereus Itsabembo was apprehended at Upper Iweka by OCHA Brigade agency and where he allegedly transferred money to them through Point On Sale ( POS).
They described the report as handiwork of fake news peddlers and an attempt to pollute the minds of Ndi Anambra on Soludo’s administration, his second tenure bid and to undermine the good work of OCHA Brigade in the State.
They further urged the general public to ignore such a report against OCHA Brigade, stating that AIF Media had been the inception of Soludo’s administration fabricating fake news and causing confusion between the people of. the State and people he appointed to man the affairs of various agencies.
Commenting, a site Engineer, Engr. Sabastine Ezikalo said” There is no way OCHA Brigade would collect money through Point On Sale (POS). That Edo man is a liar. The OCHA Brigade agency can not collect money through POS. I was once a victim of open urination defaulter. Those who are peddling this report are agents of opposition. They want to drive away OCHA Brigade and make this state lawless”
” Please, Mr. Governor, don’t mind enemies of the state who are sponsoring social media to attack your Government. You must come back to complete your second tenure” Said Engr. Ezikalo.
In her speech, Mrs Victoria Omeke, a retired civil servant said” I am one of the stakeholders in Anambra. So, Anambra must have functional law like other states. Why should an Edo state man come to Anambra to defy our own law. Can Anambra man go to Edo State and start questioning the Agency set up by the Government. Nonsense !”
Similarly, Pastor Emenike Emmanuel who hails from Nnewi said” Edo man was apprehended like other open urination defaulters, he should pay whether through POS or not was not his concern. He should be ashamed of himself exposing his manhood in the public. OCHA Brigade continue your work”
Equally commenting, a computer operator, Mr. Moses Nnaemeka said” Who is sure whether the person is PA to anybody ?. These people should allow the OCHA Brigade to do their lawful duties. Just imagine this kind story .. If not these OCHA Brigade, by now you can’t stay at Upper Iweka a minute and breathe.
Contacted the coordinator of OCHA Brigade in charge of Borromeo roundabout, Upper Iweka to Bridge Head, Ogbaru LGA and Owerri Road, Mr. Ejike Odife on phone to react to the allegation.
He said Hon. Nereus Itsabembo was apprehended like any other person who urinated at unauthorized places and he paid penalty fees.
Odife displayed Zenith Bank taller bearing the payment of Hon. Nereus which was paid to the government stipulated account ( Account Number 1228090495..Taller Number: O764137).
” Whatever receipt he is parading with was not from OCHA Brigade because OCHA Brigade has a specified account where defaulters pay their money and go. Although, not all of them pay penalty fees, some were sent to Community services like cutting grass”
” In National environmental law, open defecation and urination is banned. In some countries like the United Kingdom (UK) and the United States (US) , opening defecation and urination is a criminal offense. Also in Anambra State, there is a law prohibiting open defecation and urination” Said Odife.
