Watchman Church Onitsha gives scholarship to 26 students, holds Youths week

The Watchman Catholic Charismatic Renewal Movement (WCCRM) the Evangelist arm of Voice of the Last days Ministries, Onitsha diocese has given out scholarship funds to 26 students who came out successful after a quiz competition.

The annual award presentation cum scholarship fund was one of the highlights of the just concluded Youth week which held at WCCRM Onitsha diocesan Campground Ojoto, Idemili South in Anambra State.

The Youth conference themed ‘Making Up His Jewels’ saw several men of God who anchoring there messages from Malachi 3:17 admonished the youths to embrace Jesus Christ, Fear God and keep his commandments.

The Youths were urged to submit to God who has the power to purify them from sin tasking them to be useful in the house of God as Christians await the second coming of Christ.

Presenting the awards,Onitsha Diocesan Pastor, Pastor Modestus Obiakarije frowned at the way youths in the entertainment and sports industries were celebrated more than those excellent in academics, Entrepreneurship and technology.

“It is quite unfortunate that the world system doles out huge sums of money to sponsor footballers, musicians and those in show business but dedicate paltry sums of money to recognize youths doing exploits in academics, science and technology.

“Youths who are academic and spiritual champions should be recognized and encouraged,that is one of the ways to build a better soceity with less crime and vices.

“From today you awadees are shinning diamonds. We are proud of you. We wish that other youths should emulate and engage in healthy competition that will make them beneficiaries of the scholarship fund next year,” said Pst. Obiakarije.

Earlier in her remarks, the Diocesan Youth Coordinator, Mrs. Ifeoma Obinwa said that the Academic Quiz competition started at parish level, District level before the finals at the Diocesan level where 26 youths emerged champions.

The beneficiaries include Favor Ofoma, Donatus Chukwuebuka, Dominion Okoli, Delight Obioma, Raymond Goodness, Olileanya Nnadozie, Akachukwu Chinemelum, Callistus Nchedo, Ujunwa Mbam, Chidimma Chris-Obinwa, Chibuzo Mmesoma, Ozoemena Awada, Prince Ekekwe, David Ekekwe,

Others are Onyinye Okoli, Samuel Chukwuebuka, Divine-favor Nwakaeze, Divine Favour, Oluebube Ezekwem, Praise Okafor, Chinaza Joseph, Jessy Ajaereh, Victory Amateze, God’sgift Uchendu, Udochukwu Mozie, Marvelous Duru

A parent to two of the awardees who were also defending champions(among the immediate past awadees), Pastor Chidozie Ekekwe was grateful to God, the Watchman Church and the Quiz Competition coordinators for their support saying that the huge undisclosed sum would assist the children’s Education.
