#Walk4Health Nnewi: VCO Foundation Announces 3rd Edition of Fitness Exercise Event

One of Nigeria’s leading non-governmental organisations, Valentine Chineto Ozigbo (VCO) Foundation has announced the flag-off of the 3rd edition of its public fitness exercise programme, tagged “VCO Walk4Health” which holds in Nnewi, Anambra State on Saturday, February 6, 2021.

Walk4Health is a health and fitness initiative sponsored by a prominent Nigerian business mogul and philanthropist, Valentine Ozigbo through his non-profit which is “aimed at fostering health habits among the people of Anambra and fostering a culture of community and oneness”.

Mr Ozigbo unveiled the programme to journalists in Nnewi on Wednesday, January 27, 2021, explaining the relevance of the #Walk4Health as a programme designed to impact essential areas health and fitness in line with global trends.

“At a time when the world’s biggest challenge is related to health, we thought it timely to intervene in this area of wellness among Ndi Anambra,” Mr Ozigbo said.

“When the coronavirus became a global pandemic, our foundation was the first to initiate a health awareness for our people in Anambra.

“We shared thousands of bottles of hand sanitisers, facemasks, food palliatives, and public health programmes in response to COVID-19.

“We later launched Walk4Health to step up our health intervention. Our first event was in Awka, the second in Onitsha, and now we are moving to Nnewi to ensure that every part of Anambra partakes in this growing health movement.

“We have packaged VCO Walk4Health to impact the body and the mind positively, and to remind us of our oneness as Ndi Anambra,” the respected business leader said.

VCO Walk4Peace is a public health and fitness programme open to all interested Anambra residents. Participants will assemble at Nnewi High School, walk through a designated route and return to Nnewi High School.

A statement released by the foundation on its Facebook page revealed that free t-shirts would be given to the first 1,000 participants. The foundation also published the proposed route for the walk, beginning from Nnewi High School and returning to the school.

“We would be giving out free t-shirts to the first one thousand participants. Also, we would be sharing hand sanitisers, face masks, and educational materials on the COVID-19 pandemic,” the statement read.

“Our route will take us from through Trinity Junction, through Milikwe Road, down to Chattered Aluminium Junction. The walking party will then connect Ibeto Junction through Edo-Ezemewi Road. We will continue to Bank Road, to Nwanyi Imo Junction, through Ama-Hausa Road, down to Hundred Feet Road, down to Orizu Roundabout, through Nnobi Road and back to Nnewi High School.

“The event is open to everyone. Come out, let’s Walk4Health,” the statement read.
