Villarreal to appoint Unai Emery as coach for next season

Andre-Frank Zambo Anguissa’s first goal in Villarreal’s 4-0 win over Eibar on Sunday left a telling image at the Estadio de la Ceramica.

After the ball hit the back of the net, the Villarreal players went over to celebrate with their coach, Javi Calleja.

After such an impressive season in charge of the Yellow Submarine, in which he has guided them to the Europa League, Calleja looks set to leave the club this summer.

In fact, Villarreal have already signed up his replacement – Unai Emery.

Villarreal reached an agreement with the former Sevilla boss some time ago and his arrival will be confirmed once the season is over.

Emery has been out of a job since being sacked by Arsenal earlier this campaign.

The Spaniard, who has also coached Paris Saint-Germain, has previously been in charge of three other clubs in LaLiga Santander – Almeria, Valencia and Sevilla.
