Vice-Chancellor warns against cultism as Edo varsity matriculates 683 students

The Edo State University, Uzairue on Thursday matriculated 683 students for the 2021/2022 academic session.

Prof. Emmanuel Aluyor, the Vice- Chancellor of the institution, at the 7th matriculation ceremony, warned the new students that the university had zero tolerance for cultism, examination malpractice and other vices.

Aluyor said the university would not hesitate to expel any student found wanting in this regard.

“The university management will like to reiterate the advice given to you all during your orientation.

“Any act of hooliganism, smoking or use of or possession of suspected illicit drugs within the campus will lead to expulsion of the affected student from the university,” he said.

Aluyor said that 683 students were directly admitted into the institution and that 74 students were transferred from various institutions to the university.

The vice-chancellor said that the university had since achieved numerous mile stone over its six years of existence.

According to him, the institution is the first to own an anatomage for the training of medical students and the first in West Africa to acquire the caverdas Learning Management for teaching in the university.

Anatomage is the most technologically advanced anatomy visualization system. It is both a virtual library of human and animal cadavers and a clinical diagnostic tool for visualisation of Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) among other scans.

Canvas is a course management system that supports online learning and teaching. It allows lecturers to post grades, information and assignments online.

Aluyor urged the students to make the best use of the available facilities in the university in order for them to become well-grounded and employable after graduation.

He assured that the staff and management of the university would provide the enabling environment for students to excel.

“Management intends to sustain the high academic standards for which the university is known.

“To ensure we remain at the top, management will continue to provide facilities and infrastructure that will make the learning environment conducive for you.
