Valentine Ozigbo Mourns Late Chief Anthony Obiogbolu

Valentine Ozigbo, the immediate past President and Group CEO of Transcorp Plc, on Friday, February 5, 2020, condoled with the family of the late Chief Nwachinemelu Anthony Obiagwuncha Obiogbolu, who died at the age of 92.

The late patriarch is the father of Dr. Alex Obiogbolu, a popular politician and a former Anambra State governorship aspirant.

While speaking at the funeral ceremony held in Onitsha, Anambra State, Mr. Ozigbo described the late Chief Anthony Obiogbolu as a “legend in his own rights”.

“I wish to use this opportunity to pray for his soul to continue to rest in peace,” Mr Ozigbo said. “

“I also pray that his legacy continues to live on. His death is also a reminder that one day we will all pass on, so we should live a life worthy of emulation so one day, we will be celebrated like Chief Obiogbolu,” the respected business leader and philanthropist continued.

Ozigbo, a leading governorship aspirant in Anambra State’s Governorship election of 2021, consoled the bereaved family and encouraged them to take solace in the fact that their father left a solid legacy which he urged them to carry on.

The funeral ceremony was attended by several notable personalities including a former Governor of Anambra State and the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Vice Presidential candidate in the 2019 general election, Peter Obi; the Senator representing Anambra Central at the National Assembly, Uche Ekwunife; a former Commissioner of Information, Chief Joe-Martins Uzodike.

Also present were a former Anambra State governorship aspirant, Dr Tony Nwoye; Chief Ugochukwu Okeke, among others.

Ozigbo was accompanied by senior members of his campaign organization, including a former Speaker of the Anambra State House of Assembly and a two-time member of the Federal House of Representatives, Honourable Eucharia Azodo; a former member of the Anambra State House of Assembly, Sir Tim Egboka; a former member of both the Anambra State House of Assembly and the Federal House of Representatives, Honourable Barrister Valentine Ayika.

Others are PDP stalwart, Chief Tony Offiah; two former Chairmen of the PDP in Anambra State, Chief Benji Udeozor and Ejike Oguebego; a former PDP Woman leader in the state, Dame Love Ebeh; the General Manager of the Valentine Chineto Ozigbo Foundation, Sir Izuchukwu Oraelosi; a former PDP Chairman in Njikoka Local Government Area, Dr. Willy Emenari; a former Chairman of the PDP in Dunukofia Local Government Area, Chief Ikechukwu Akaeze, and several others.
