Unizik Students Elevates, Gains Hands On Impactful Knowledge From Experts

The office of the Assistant Secretary General Under the Student Union Government Nnamdi Azikiwe University (ASG-SUG Unizik) hosted a remarkable and historical confrence on Friday preceded by a two weeks intensive digital skills training, a one day physical skill training, a fitness walk and a medical check up, the confrence featured the conveyor Maryjane Adaobi Obi; the ASG-SUG Unizik, the host, Ochuba chukwusom; the President of the SUG, other student leaders, dignitaries, students and speakers from different sectors of the economy, the speakers talked on life, with each regularly pointing the need for a student to have a knowledge of a digital or physical skill, in which elevated students testimonies were shared students on stage.

Ilechukwu Adaolisa, Okeke Emmanuella, Inyere Nkechi and other students who benefited from this historical tranings gave their testimony on stage as they gave displays of what they learnt in the digital skills training like web development, graphics designing and Virtual Assistance, and also what they learnt in the physical skills training like soap making, shampoo, perfumes, and others as they listed the methodological process they took to achieve each end result.

The host Maryjane Oluebube the host of the event asked a question ‘Have you had dreams/ideas that have kept you up at night?’. She goes further to assure the audience that each speaker that was going to mount up the stage were people who had passed through this stage, she gave a formal welcome to all the diginitaries who were present at the event, including the Kingsley Ubaoji; Dean of Students Affairs, Sir Anthony Apiti; Sub dean of students affairs. The First speaker Sir Ozor Alvin Nwakaeze; Ceo of Trustnet, started his speech with an instance of a 18 years old who killed the father just to have his girlfriend party celebrated and urged student to deceit from evil acts, motivated them to focus on building their future by learning skills and focusing on education.

The Dean of Students Affairs; Kingsley Ubaoji in his speech asked talked on the event coincidentally being an anniversary for him, because back in lagos around last year, he was in a similar conference in lagos. He further emphasized on the need for the need to build legacy and how students Passion can grow to sucesss which is just basic project management.

“The future is not just bulit not just by your dreams or potential but also some consideration, tasks and challenges. Sometimes it is just about money but what passion you have. Please be intentional about things that you want you pursue. It takes quite a lot to be able to move away from some distractions as a student you should ask yourself, What problems do i want to solve? What skills do i want to build?. He hoped students would stay calm and focused be a proffesional by being an observer in any environment they find themselves.

“The degree is beautiful but skills set you apart from the crowd. It is very important that you start now. What can i add to having BSc or NSc. Take the good side of social media. There are some existing skills that are similar to your skills. Build on it. Make sure that external influences does not get you carried away, as accountability can only come through challenges. People might even laugh at you. Challenge your dream and learn from critics”.

Mrs Helen Okeke in her speech talked on time management as a student, “Learn practical skills just like elevate did. This skill that you learn is what people will pay for. These skills should add to your life and not replace it. Get a timeline and plan your timing. Social networking and contact. Build yourself and your relationship around people who will motivate and build you, offer value. Use your time well to build your mind and your personality. Build relationships that will help you here in school and after school. The host invited Adaobi to present a few awards.

Another distinguished Speaker Alvin Nwakaeze the Director of TashHub represented by Mrs Anthony in speech stated their Branch of Tash Hub in Unizik situated in coke center.

He envisaged as there will be a time where intellectual will be a service. Wherein a company you would have worked with some years will send an email stating your replacement with an AI tool. He emphasized on the 4D framework on using AI and also using AI as a guide to achieve daily activities.

Nzubechukwu Chinedum, also known as Zuby of techland and a co-CEO of Majescity Real Estate gave a secret to success which was ‘determining what is going on in your mind, feed your mind with postive and intellectual thigs and control the algorithmn on social media and never become a doom scroller’. He expressed his fascination about the Gen Z’s and their audacity to dare, which has also had another disadvantage of being another noise in the market, he was immediately given an award for his support.

Another amazing speaker was Chukwuebuka Don Chukson the P.A to the Chairman of National Union of Journalists (NUJ) who represented Emeka Odogwu the Chairman of NUJ who talked on student finding path, security and purpose and recalled some phrases made by previous speakers.

“Be sensitive of your actions as an individual, as for parents try to be the model of your children”.

Moreso, contestants submitted their business pitches and were judged, Miss Chiamaka Genevieve; CEO of Evergreen Citadel centred her speech on a previous webinar she attended that impacted her life, she talked on the difference between talent and purpose “talent is not exactly purpose, purpose is one things that makes you forget time, as student find ways to study as school should be a training ground for you to juggle your mind”.

A spoken word was given by Mary Matthew, Cutting of cake was done, powerbanks were shared to lucky students, certificates were shared to students who were active in the activities of elevate for the past two weeks and the winners of the elevate pitch were announced.

While the event was commendably organised but a little overhyped the time scheduled to start was not honoured, and the refreshments were not merited some of the audiences who were starved after honouring such an holistic event.
