The newly appointed Vice- Chancellor of Nnamdi Azikiwe University, Awka, Prof. Ugochukwu Bond Anyaehie has declared that the multi-million naira Federal government sponsored solar powered farm which has remained comatose and non-functional since installation must be revived and made functional to cushion the power challenge currently been experienced in the University.

It will be recalled that the solar farm designed to supply clean and reliable power to the institution and to reduce the energy costs, stabilize electricity supply and strengthen academic and administrative operations has been bedevilled with technical failures and prolonged neglect thereby rendering the facility into disuse. Attempt by previous administrations to revive it yielded no success.

However, with the coming on board of Prof Anyaehie as the Vice-Chancellor and in line with his result-oriented management style, he has initiated a thorough technical diagnosis involving professional engineers and renewable-energy experts. He also provided the financial support for the procurement of essential vandalized parts and ensured that bureaucratic bottle-necks were instantly cleared.

In the development, the Vice-Chancellor has issued stern warning to staff who are enemies of progress and positive development to stay clear of the farm as appropriate punishment will be meted to anybody caught sabotaging the effort.

As repairs near completion, one thing is clear: the solar farm must work and under the close watch of Prof Bond Anyaehie’s administration.
