The maiden edition of Career Development Summit organised by the Department of Mass Communication, Nnamdi Azikiwe University, Awka on Thursday 25th April, 2024 was a resounding success.

Special thanks to our HOD, Dr. Chioma Agbasimelo for thinking outside the box to motivate and inspire our students by offering them a clear direction on the prospects and challenges in the unbundled Mass Communication Curriculum.

The one man squad, Dr. Odogwu Emeka Odogwu, ever ready to deliver on any assignment given to him. Dr. Odogwu and his team planned the event and it went so well!

The chairperson of the event, Prof. Chinwe Uzochukwu, the Keynote Speaker, Barr. Valentine Obienyem, the Media Adviser to the Presidential Candidate of Labour Party, Mr. Peter Obi; the Lead Paper Presenter, Prof. Chinyere Stella Okunna, DVC, Paul University, Awka, and our Dean, Prof. Frank-Collins Okafor, you all made it happen and you stayed till the end.

The resource persons gathered from the eight potential independent Departments that Mass Communication has birthed. Each of them was worth his or her onion.

In my capacity as a co-anchor of the event with my colleague, Dr. Henry Duru, we stirred the event from the beginning to the end, maintaining a successive tempo. God did it for us!

For all the students who were on ground to ear-mark all that the veterans in the industry shared with them, the sky is your starting point.

The unbundling of Mass Communication Department into eight Departments under the Faculty of Communication and Media Studies is a task that must be accomplished soonest in Nnamdi Azikiwe University, Awka.
