UNIZIK LAWSA Calls It’s Freshers To Bar

The Nnamdi Azikiwe University (UNIZIK) Faculty of law held its annual call to bar and induction ceremony for first year students, direct entry students, and Transfer students at the University Auditorium, Garuba Square.

The event featured the a Student Union Government (SUG) president, Comrade Samuel Messiah, FIDA Chairperson, Esther Chinwendu, Dean of the faculty, Prof. Felicia Anayogu, Keynote speaker for the event, Chukwubuikem Odumajuru, The Staff Adviser of Law Students Association (LAWSA) Reginald Anosike, a Barrister of the Supreme Court of Justice, Uchenna Wilson and other dignitaries.

The Staff Adviser, Reginald Anosike in his speech talked to the Inductees participating in an annual ritual of LAWSA. He talked on dress code using the senior advocates as a case study, Each serving as examples and point of encouragement for freshers to participate in LAWSA activities to come.

The keynote speaker, Chukwubuikem Odumajuru in his speech urges “law students to build an essential skill called Advocacy”. He further talked about the moot court which enables students to have an average knowledge of an area of law which is litigation, have a basic knowledge of computer skills and good legal research and writing skills and above all raise the standard of Justice in LAWSA.

The president of LAWSA Charles Elujekwute in his remarks talked on equity defense and the rule of law, encouraging students to actively participate in the programs of law because law is a jealous mistress.

The call to bar being the beginning of a new chapter in their lives.Barr. Uchenna Wilson in his remarks talked on the subsequent essay competition attracting cash prices while announcing the top six winners of the essay competition 6.0.

Chinenye Nomeh one of the inductee present in an interview expressed how the ceremony taught her about law as a whole and appreciated all the speakers and organizers of the event.To round up the event, ifeanyi a student of LAWSA volunteered to handle the closing prayer.
