UNIZIK HIGH SCHOOL STUDENTS EMERGE BEST MALE, FEMALE CHEMISTRY STUDENTS IN NIGERIA

Master Victor Onwuka and Miss Onyinye Okafor both of Nnamdi Azikiwe University (UNIZIK) High School Awka have emerged as the Best Male Chemistry and Best Female Chemistry Students in the Federation in a Chemistry Competition organized by the Chemical Society of Nigeria (CSN) on Tuesday, 9th November 2021 in Lagos.

The development was made known to reporters by the Chairperson, UNIZIK High School Parents Teachers Council, Dr. Ogechukwu Aribodor.

The competition tagged ‘Chemical Society of Nigeria National Secondary School Chemistry Competition 2021,’ had two representatives each from the 36 states of the Federation and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), with Master Onwuka and Miss Okafor representing UNIZIK and the State both coming out victorious as the overall best in the entire competition in both Male and Female Categories.

Onwuka scored 92 out of 100 percent in the Male Category while Okafor recorded 87 percent for the Female Category. According to the President, Chemical Society of Nigeria (CSN), Prof. Moses Nkem Chendo, the essence of the competition is to rekindle the nostalgia by boosting interest in Chemistry and other Science-related subjects among students.

Onwuka and Okafor were accompanied to Lagos by their tutor and a Chemistry Lecturer in the institution, Engr. Nonso Onyenanu. Prof. Theresa Onuegbu was also present at the event where our little gems did the institution and the state proud.
