UNIZIK HIGH SCHOOL GRADUATES 69 STUDENTS FOR THE 2020/21 ACADEMIC SESSION

UNIZIK High School Awka on Thursday, 15th December 2021 graduated and honoured 69 students of the citadel in a colourful graduation ceremony held at the University Auditorium. The event also saw the launching of the school’s calendar as well as prize giving to the best students in various subject areas and special awards to the Head Boy and Girl, Master Chukwubuikem Aribodor and Miss Precious Nwakamma respectively.

In his remarks at the occasion, the Board Chairman and Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Academic) of UNIZIK, Prof. Frederick Odibo felicitated with the high school management for a job well done over the years in ensuring that the school churned out graduates who are worthy in character and learning. Odibo highlighted that the testimony to that is the performance of her students in Inter School Competitions notably two of its students who emerged as the overall best Male and Female Chemistry Students in Nigeria recently in a competition organized by the prestigious Chemical Society of Nigeria (CSN). Odibo admonished the graduands to be good ambassadors of the school as the school has done well in inculcating discipline, moral virtues and academic prowess in the course of their stay in the institution.

In her remarks, the Parents Teachers Council (PTC) Chairperson and a Senior Lecturer in the Department of Zoology, Dr. Ogechukwu Aribodor thanked the University Management for their support to the school. Aribodor eulogized the teachers for their selfless role and parental love in raising the students to be who they are today. The scholar admonished the students to be good ambassadors now that they have graduated and moving forward into the society. She equally reminded them of the need to remember their alma mater at all times.

The PTC Chairperson also called for a minute silence to be held for the former principal of the school, Late Prof. Bekky Adirika, for her immense contributions to the growth and development of the school.

Also speaking the Acting Principal, Mrs Isreal Atinuke, stated that the school has come a long way in terms of prudent management and efficient administration, she emphasized that the school is highly rated and currently ranked top 5 amongst the best schools in the state. Atinuke commended the Parents and Guardians for believing in the system. She commended the Parents Teachers Council for being there always for the school as well as the teachers for their professionalism in raising the students. Atinuke called on the graduating students to remain focused and dedicated even as they delve into the next chapter of their lives.

High points of the occasion were the presentation of prizes to the deserving students notably the Best Graduating Student, Onyinye Odum who recorded 7 alphas in the WAEC and a score of 297 in JAMB. Other side attractions were saxophone special number by Theophilus Agu and cultural dance by the students of the High School.

Present at the occasion was the Chairman of the occasion, Barr. Donatus Ifenatuora; the Spiritual Director of the school, Very Rev. Onyekachi Moses Nwakamma; Head Mistress of UNIZIK Primary School, Dr. Mrs. Chinwe Alagbu; Director of SIWES and former Chairperson ASUU NAU, Prof. Dennis Aribodor, parents and guardians of the graduating students.
