UNIZIK Graduate Wins Miss Eco Tourism, Set To Represent Nigeria At World Pageant

A graduate of Nnamdi Azikiwe University (UNIZIK) Awka, Anambra State, Miss Ifunanya Basilia Ikechukwu has emerged as the winner of the 2022 Miss Eco Tourism Nigeria beauty pageant show.

The event which was organized by Miss Earth Nigeria, owners of the international franchise to Miss Earth and Miss Eco Tourism World was held on Saturday, 27th August 2022 at the EUI event centre, Port-Harcourt, Rivers State with 24 beautiful, intelligent and elegant ladies from different states in Nigeria contesting in the prestigious event with the young Ifunanya, who hails from Isuofia Community in Anambra State representing her state Anambra.

The process leading to her crowning as the champion saw Ifunanya Ikechukwu and the other ladies taking part in series of tasks such as debate/talk sessions on the need to raise awareness on conservation of animals, curbing the use of plastics and stemming the tide of plastic pollution as well as camping for preliminary competitions such as cultural display of afrocentric and regular wears, intelligence round and other competitions.

Ifunanya will be representing Nigeria at the upcoming 2023 Eco Tourism World Pagent in South Africa come 2023. Before this time, the combination of brain and beauty emerged as the most beautiful girl in her institution ‘MISS UNIZIK’, a status she held for a year from the 2017/18 to 2018/19 academic sessions, she graduated from the Department of Zoology in the 2019/20 academic session.

Ifunanya is using her platform/office as ‘MISS ECO TOURISM NIGERIA’ to draw the attention of the world to the beautiful tourist sites in Nigeria and other environmental issues.
