The entire University Community made of members of the University Management, 9th Governing Council, Provost, Deans, Directors, Heads of Departments, principal officers and other staff converged at Mbaise on Saturday, 19th February 2022 to commiserate with the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Academic), Prof. Frederick Odibo over the demise of his mother, Late Lady Chief Grace Ugonma Odibo.

In his homily delivered during the commendation service held at the St Benedict’s Catholic Parish Alpha, Obizi Ezinihitte-Mbaise, Imo State, the Parish Priest St. Patrick Catholic Church Ichi-Mbaise, Rev. Fr. Joseph Egbune admonished christians on the essence of servitude to the creator as displayed by Late Grace Odibo during his times on earth. Drawing inspiration from the scriptures in LUKE 12:35-40, the priest stated that what God expects of us is service and obedience to him as the creator.

Fr. Egbune described the Late Grace Odibo as a faithful servant judging by her service to the lord for over 40 years in his vineyard. He stated that Late Grace Odibo was awarded an Ambassador of Mary, a title awarded in recognition and appreciation for her magnanimous support for the church and promotion of christian faith in Ahiara Diocese.

The priest opined that Mama has left a legacy by ensuring that the Children she left behind have gone on to become important members of the society and at a ripe age of 96 years has fulfilled her destiny. He prayed God for the repose of her soul.
