University Management Receives Presidential Visitation Panel

The University Management led by the Vice-Chancellor, Professor Charles Esimone, FAS on Tuesday received the Presidential Visitation panel to Nnamdi Azikiwe University, Awka.

Receiving the delegation led by its Chairman, Barr. Danladi Kifasi at the University’s Council Chamber, the Vice-Chancellor expressed delight on their visit and optimism that the visit would further help solve some myriad of issues facing the institution.

According to the VC, “People generally feel uneasy whenever the mention of Presidential panel is made and see it as witch-hunting but we don’t feel same here. We are very ready and poised for you to help us through your constructive criticisms.

“Since inception of the University, one of the things that has plagued us is the fact that we didn’t get take-off grant. Most of the projects in the University were done through Internally Generated Revenue. When I came on board, I started reaching out aggressively”, the Vice-Chancellor maintained.

While assuring the Delegation of the University’s full cooperation in ensuring their job is made easier, Professor Esimone remained optimistic that the visit would benefit the University highly.

In his remark, the Chairman of the Delegation, Alhaji commended the University for her warm reception.

In his words, “We have come for a compliance visit. We are here to make sure you comply with the rules, regulations and statutes that you have established. We are here to help you put your problems across to Federal Government so that they would make facilities available to you to give the best for our children”.

The Chairman further assured the University Management that the exercise is not for witch-hunting purposes.

Members of the delegation include Barr. Yakubu Adevange Abbas, Prof. Sani Abba Aliyu, Engr. Usman Ajibade Nurudden, Mr. Austin Dio Ebimiye, Dr. Ben Igwenyi and Mustapha Rasheed.
