Umuegwu Amawa Community Doles Out Scholarship Awards To School Pupils

It was indeed a harvest of joy and jubilation at Umuegwu Amawa Community in Ogbunike, Oyi local Government Area of Anambra State when the School Pupils of the area received Scholarship Awards ranging from Education materials and written Cheques of amounts of money depending on individual performance for  the Examination competition conducted by the committees for Scholarship Scheme.

The Scholarship Scheme and awarding Day occasion which held at Umuegwu Amawa general Assembly Hall covers basic Six, JSS111, SS111 categories and was the second edition which  sponsored by one of their illustrious son, Engr, Chinedu Ikegwuani.

In his opening remark, the Chairman of the occasion, Chief Onochie Ikegwuani reminded the Children that Education remains the bedrock of human existence, noting that there is nothing on Earth one wants  to venture that would not entail education knowledge.

 He pointed out that it is  imperative for every Child to obtain basic certificate before choosing to venture into businesses of their choice and advised parents to consider giving their children best of education to be successful in life.

Similarly, Director of Orient Schools Abor Amawa Ogbunike, Mr. Uzodimma Basil Azodo hinted that education is the highest investment in human capital development and remains vital in  every human activities.

While he lauded the organisers of the Scholarship Scheme, he stated  that it would reduce mass illiterates and crimes in communities.

” No parts of human endeavours you want to venture does not require basic education. So, you must go to school if you want to succeed in life” He told the pupils. He advised them never to engage themselves in touting activities, affairming that the introduction of Scholarship Scheme in their Community would encourage more Children to go to school as it serves as a liverage for parents who could not train their Children in the School.

Also speaking,  the Chairman of Umuegwu Amawa Community, Mr. Nwabueze Azodo disclosed that  during his tenure, he noticed that children in their Community were going astray, stating  that he told his executives that they would organise Scholarship Scheme to  train their Children in the School.

” We organized Scholarship Scheme to co-ordinate our Children and assist those  who their parents have no capacity to train in the School. It is for the well being for the Children and a way to catch them young because when they grow educated, they becomes useful for themselves, parents and Society in general” 

Mr Azodo affairmed that since they embarked on Scholarship Scheme in their Community, many Children have benefited immensely while criminal tendency and erratic behaviours among the Children have reduced.

In the same vein, the planning committee Chairman, Hon. Paul Maduka Onyekwu noted that the occasion went successfully, stating that he was impressed and he is optimistic that next year’s occasion would be grater, just as the Vice president of Building Material International Market Ogidi, Sir Cyril Ekemezie Ugwuja lauded  Umuegwu Amawa for organizing Scholarship Scheme for their Children, saying it is something worthy to emulate by  other Communities.
