Uche Okafor enjoins politicians, religious bodies to uphold moralities, unity and love

Mr Uche Okafor, Speaker, Anambra State House of Assembly, has tasked politicians and religious bodies to hold fast to all the virtues of peace, love and unity as Christians celebrate the birth of Jesus Christ.

In his Christmas message, made available to the newsmen on Saturday in Awka, Okafor said that as Christians all over the world celebrate Christmas, Nigerians must use the opportunity of the season to resolve to love one another and live together in peace.

Okafor enjoined politicians and religious leaders to be more statesman-like, law abiding and place greater interest of the country above all personal or sectional interests.

The Speaker commended the Anambra Governor, Prof. Chukwuma Soludo, for his giant efforts in ensuring adequate security of lives and property of Anambra residents.

He said that the governor had tried so much to achieve an environment that is peaceful for citizens to enjoy the Christmas and New Year celebrations

Okafor appealed to the citizenry to always give the governor the needed support and allow him time to achieve his developmental Projects for the state.

He said that since Jesus Christ preached and ensured peace among people and nations, Christians and non Christians alike should pursue peace at all times and shun acts capable of disuniting the country.

Okafor urged them to intensify prayers for the peaceful conduct of the 2023 general elections for the peace of the state and Nigeria at large.

“Anarchy have never been used to achieve any success in life, therefore youths should learn how to use peaceful resolutions in solving any challenge.

“Christmas is a time for sober reflection, Christmas is a time to reflect on our actions and inactions, which speak well or bad of what we profess. If not, a new change of life should be encouraged to propagate the blessings of the celebrations.

“I pray God to grant everyone who is celebrating the birth of our saviour, “Jesus Christ”, to live as He lived,” he said.
