U.S. Embassy Revokes Nigerians’ Visas, Families Stranded
Visa
The U.S. Embassy in Nigeria has quietly revoked valid visas of professionals, entrepreneurs, and families, leaving many stranded with cancelled trips and mounting costs. Affected individuals, including top officials and business leaders, reported being asked to submit passports only to have visas cancelled without explanation, citing vague U.S. regulations.
Some travellers discovered the cancellations at airports, while others received notices referencing “new information” but offering no appeal process. Neither the U.S. Embassy nor Nigerian authorities have issued a statement, fueling concerns of a silent tightening of U.S. visa policy against Nigerians.
