TRADITIONAL RULER OF AGULU COMMUNITY HOSTS THE 9TH GOVERNING COUNCIL OF UNIZIK

The 9th Governing Council of Nnamdi Azikiwe University Awka as part of its tour of the Faculties in the institution on Wednesday paid a courtesy visit to the Traditional Ruler of Agulu, Igwe Innocent Elochukwu Obodoakaor Ezeani, Igwe III of Agulu.

In his address during the visit, the Chairman Governing Council and Pro-Chancellor of the institution, Prof. Sulyman Alege Kuranga described the visit as unique owing to the fact that Agulu Community is the base of one of it’s Faculties, the Faculty of Pharmaceutical Sciences. The consultant Urologist eulogized the Traditional Ruler and the community for the grace in providing the land for the establishment of the Faculty. The Pro-Chancellor asked for the indulgence of the Igwe to give the institution more lands to expand the faculty. He appreciated the role of the Royal Father by ensuring peace, tranquility and security in the land while praying for long life and longevity for the Royal Highness.

In his reaction, the Traditional Ruler of the town, Igwe Innocent Obodoakaor Ezeani said he is proud to be associating with a University of class such as UNIZIK, The Royal Father described the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Charles Esimone as a wonderful individual whose administrative acumen can be felt in the dynamics of the University. Igwe Obodoakaor made a request for admission and employment slots for the people of Agulu town, on the request made by the University, the Royal Father said he will convene a meeting with the cabinet expressing optimism in granting the request of the institution.

Responding, UNIZIK Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Charles Esimone, FAS, thanked the Majesty for the warm reception, he stated that some Philantropists in Agulu were instrumental in the growth of the Faculty during his time as the foundation Dean of the Faculty with the construction of Departmental buildings, other forms of support and endowment. On the request of admission and employment, the Professor of Biopharmaceutics and Pharmaceutical Microbiology stated that he has taken note of the request and it will be processed further. He prayed for long life, strength and health on the Igwe to continue with his good works in the community.
