Trader docked for allegedly failing to pay N94,000 debt

A 25-year-old trader, Ibrahim Muhammed, was on Monday docked in Sharia Court in Kano  for failing to pay a debt of N94,000.

Muhamed, who lives at Kwana Hudu Quarters, Kano, is charged with criminal breach of trust and cheating.

The Prosecution Counsel, Insp Abdul Wada, told the court that the complainant,  Abba Garba of Gaida Quarters, Kano, reported the matter at the Kwana Hudu police station on March 17.

Wada said the defendant fraudulently collected more than 10 clothing materials worth N94,400 promising to pay him back but later failed to do so,

The prosecutor said the offence contravened the provisions of sections  202 and 206 of the Penal Code.

The defendant, however, pleaded not guilty to the charge.

The Judge, Dr Bello Khalid, admitted the defendant to bail in the sum of N50,000 with one reliable surety, who must be  a businessman.

Khalid adjourned the matter until April 14  for mention.(NAN)
