Tony Nwoye , 2 Others Step Down At Anambra PDP Primaries

Tony Nwoye, Emeka Etiaba and other unnamed aspirant have prematurely stepped aside from the ongoing governorship primaries of People’s Democratic Party (PDP) in Anambra state.

The primaries is meant to pick a sole candidate for the upcoming governorship polls this November.

The party had been ripped into two factions, with two separate leaderships.

Both factions held their primaries in two different venues on Saturday.

The Deputy Governor of  Edo state Mr. Philip Shai’bu,  who is the secretary to the Anambra state PDP Guber primary election committee announced the stepdown of the 3 aspirants to the journalists shortly after meeting with the aspirants in Awka.

According to him, the aspirants stepped down  voluntarily and promised to support whoever emerges as the candidate of the party in the upcoming election.

The deputy governor also assured everyone that the party would conduct a credible, free and fair election to the satisfaction of the aspirants.

He further asks everyone to remain calm as all the aspirants have agreed to respect the outcome of the primary election afer a close door meeting with them. 

He also announced that out of the 230  supper delegates expected at the election, less than 200 were accredited.

As of the time of filling this report, the other faction is still conducting their own primary election.
