Time to Use Press To Expose Corruption In Zone 9

The suspect in the criminal case, COP VS Chukwunenye Nweke;Charge no; MAW/ 97C / 2019,Chukwunenye Nweke has taken it to his Facebook handle, ” Chukwunenye Nweke”, appealing to all lovers of freedom of press and journalists  to be part of his protest slated for 16th October, 2019.

Nweke had after writing series of letters to AIG Zone 9 on the alleged aiding and abetting abuse of legal procedure, fabricated evidence,perjuries, inducement of police officers, fraud,and other illicit acts involving police officers under the control of Zone9 and certain civilians, and without justice by Zone 9, restored to use Facebook, radio ,newspapers, blogs, and other media outlets to broadcast his letters to AIG.

Feared by Nweke’s attempt to use media to expose what he tagged as plot to corrupt justice and shield crime suspects from justice by Zone 9 Police Personnel, AIG Zone 9 ordered that Nweke be arrested and charged to court on alleged defamation.

Since 31st January 2019 to date,  AIG Zone has deliberately refused the suspect access to the  police investigation reports and other documents related to the case despite several court rulings, instructing AIG to release all evidence in the matter as enshrined by ACJL,2010, to the suspect.

However, the prosecution of Nweke by Zone 9 will again commence on Wednesday this week and the defendant took it to his Facebook wall with his photo with the description, ” AIG Zone9 Umuahia wants be to die before he allows justice”.

His Facebook publication read in part:

“SPECIAL REQUESTI am leading a protest on Wednesday 16th October, 2019, before Chief Magistrate Court, Awka, and I am using this medium to appeal to everyone to be part of the protest by coming to the protest arena with his or her camera, help capture the event and make it viral via Facebook, WhatsApp and other media outlets.The essence of the protest is to expose corruption in Zone 9 Police Command,Umuahia,and to also tell police authority that we have freedom of press in Nigeria and as such, we can use press to credibly broadcast corruption involving anybody or institution without being harassed, intimated, abused by police as currently being exhibited by Zone 9.I also want to use the medium to tell the whole world that if I am kidnapped or shot or killed @ anytime, AIG Zone 9,Dr. Aguiyi Anuli Ihuoma of Nwafor Orizu College of Education, Nsugbe,Chief Chukwuka Onuko, Supol Obiageli,U .S Ekpo and many others be held responsible because they want me dead to conceal corruption”.
