Throwing wastes out from moving vehicles, indulging in open defecation now offence in Anambra –Ocha brigade

Anambra state agency in charge of monitoring and enforcement of the state sanitation laws ocha brigade has warned the state residents to desist from throwing out waste from moving vehicles, indulging in open defecations as well as indiscriminate flouting of dumping of refuse in the state noting that it is now a serious offence in the state especially throwing waste out from a moving vehicle as the agency will henceforth arrest and prosecute offenders and if found guilty sent to prison.

Disclosing this in a statement signed by agency public relations officer Mr Agbafine Anthony.O.on behalf of the managing director of the agency Comrade Celestine Anere made available to newsmen in Awka the capital of Anambra state last Monday, Ocha brigade stated that aside from these, that it is now an offence for Keke operators, shuttle bus drivers as well as all commercial drivers plying the state roads for them not carry wastebin bucket as the agency will commence the enforcement of the exercise to ensure a healthy and clean Anambra state. In addition, the agency said that in the area of tipper drivers carrying sand, gravel, and refuse disposal trucks plying the state rconditionsonss they must cover their products with tarpaulin or risk being arrested and charged to revenue court.

While assuring that the agency will not relent on making sure that Anambra state is clean to complement the good work of Gov.Chukwuma Soludo, they further stated that all residential buildings, offices, corporate establishments, hotels, kiosks, shops, markets must have two wastebin buckets for both plastics, refuse bagged while disposing of for easy evacuation even as they disclosed that a monitoring device has been installed in the state to monitor everywhere adding that anyone caught throwing out waste from the vehicle will be prosecuted. Said the agency, Our men have also been directed to visit every premise in the state daily to book any defaulter, we have also set up a special monitoring team with the responsibility of going around all the premises to fish out defaulters.
