The governorship candidate of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), in the November 6 election in Anambra state, Nze Akachukwu Nwankpo has pledged to strengthen the relationship between the Office of the Governor and families in the state if given the mandate.

Akachukwu who disclosed this in his office in Awka, also assured that his government would place utmost priority to the security and welfare of the citizens of the state and their properties.

He described the screening process that led to his emergence as the party flag-bearer as thorough and rigorous, just as he described his declaration as the ADC candidate as magical.

He said, “The screening I was subjected to lasted for four hours. I’ve never seen that level of serious minded people. They took me apart, went through my intestines, they demanded evidence of everything.

“These men were selected across the country. They wanted to be sure the man who would carry their flag is worth their slogan, ‘Arise and shine’. I was humbled.

“Infact, I consider myself enomorsly privileged to seat among these caliber of men. I promise under God to make the best of it.

“There’s this desire our national chairman has to create a party that will respect people and rule of law.

“Okey Nwosu has decorum inside him, and he has maintained that across years. What you saw on the day of our party primary was spontaneous explosion of that decorum.

Asked whether his party had the capacity, including structure to wrestle power from the ruling APGA, Nwankpo said, “this is not a dialogue with ADC, APGA, PDP. It’s a dialogue among Anambra people. It’s all about our families, communities, church, roads, name them.

“The only structure in this state is called ‘umunna’. Political parties are run by umunna. Forget about structures. The will of God gets established in different locations. For me, going to ADC is in pursuit of the dictates of my spirit.
