The Recent Romance Between Goodluck Jonathan and Peter Obi:Another Plot To Exclude Ndigbo from the Centre

The only benefit of Goodluck Jonathan Presidency to Ndigbo was the State burial of Dim Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu.That was the first and only visit former President Goodluck Jonathan paid to the entire Igboland.As the then President of Nigeria, Goodluck Jonathan visited Umudim,Nnewi, Anambra State to honour the demise of Emeka Ojukwu,a move done to flatter Ojukwu beyond the height he never attained.Former President Jonathan Goodluck seems to know the Igbo nation’s calibrating key for wooing their votes.

While President Buhari bestowed posthumous GCFR on the Late MKO Abiola,Ndigbo expected Goodluck Jonathan to have bestowed same on Emeka Ojukwu.Afterall,Ojukwu once led the seceding Republic of Biafra;Ndigbo wondered why Goodluck Jonathan did not prove that love of his to the Igbo nation as he claimed.There was no justification of the votes of the South-East for Goodluck Jonathan Presidency in 2011.

Why people like Goodluck Jonathan and Obasanjo will never allow the South-East to unite under a common political front to get factored in into the national power equation remains sketchy and shrouded in mysticism.It might not be wrong saying that the politics of divide-and-rule used to politically deceive the gullible voters of the South-East Geopolitical Zone in 2011 wants to replicate itself again,with the recent romance between Goodluck Jonathan and Peter Obi.A wise one does not go the same failed way twice;Peter Obi must not be used by Goodluck Jonathan again to divert the votes of the South-East away from the centre of power,leaving the geopolitical zone without relevance in the polity.Peter Obi must look before he leaps now,lest the people of the South-East Geopolitical Zone will pitch tent with His Excellency Dr Alex Otti, CON, the Executive Governor of Abia State as the political messiah of the Rising Sun.

Peter Obi,by dint of his hard work in politics, is no longer seen as an accidental politician,when the career is now populated mostly by Anambra traders.Obi should learn the game better so as to be able to fit in better in the national politics.And the people of the South-East should change their voting pattern now,play to the power by shifting the goal post entire from the PDP.

We must shine our eyes as a people,not to be used by Goodluck Jonathan for his Presidential ambition in 2027 again.Goodluck Jonathan is poised to rub the South-East their turn to produce the President of Nigeria in the nearest future.They have again regrouped in the PDP to rub Peter Obi the electoral gains he recorded in the Labour Party with possibly empty promises.When it is obvious Peter Obi needs to build upon the gains he recorded in 2023 Presidential Election,the political glory-converters of the PDP,who posed as eternal leaders of the party,are scheming to turn Obi-dient Movement into their own selfish gains sooner or later.

The recent romance between Peter Obi and Goodluck Jonathan is of no use to the South-East politically.Once the political enemies of the South-East see any shining light rising from the Rising Sun,they will rush to cut short the rising spate and decimate his or her political relevance in Nigeria,a move sinisterly done to rub the South-East of a leading political leader by OBJ,making him to change the Senate Presidents produced from the South-East as zoned by the PDP-led Federal Government.The people of South-East should be weary of GEJ and OBJ if they want to produce the President of Nigeria in the nearest future.

I must state it clearly that after the non-negotiable 8-year tenure of His Excellency, Alhaji Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR,in 2031,Peter Obi automatically becomes the only candidate left among the arrays of Presidential pretenders and contenders in Nigeria.Then,Obi would not have a match among the tested,failed leaders, nursing ambition to govern Nigeria someday in the nearest future.

The Obi-dient Movement should consolidate on the Labour Party to turn into a permanent political structure,as against the roving political structural status it currently parades.The Labour Party remains the surest vehicle to Peter Obi Presidency,if and only if he would consolidate and use the LP to take over power in the nearest future.Any move made by Peter Obi in terms of defection from the Labour Party would send him into an untimely political oblivion.Exacly what Peter Obi will witness as the outcome of his recent romance with Goodluck Jonathan.

It is obvious there is no way Goodluck Jonathan will settle for the least or play second fiddle to Peter Obi in the duo’s recent romance.I know the tortoise-and-ogre style of politics played by Goodluck Jonathan will outrightly outshine Peter Obi’s chameleonic style of politics.It has become a tested arrangement whereby it ended in win-loss,with Peter Obi losing at the end.’A stitch in time saves nine’,my admonition to Peter Obi.

Most sound political thinkers of the South-East extraction are in the know that it would pay Peter Obi in the long run if he aligns with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR than his romancing Goodluck Jonathan.The bold plans President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has for the South-East would see him balancing the structural imbalance that marginalised the Zone in states creation in Nigeria,with the addition of two more states,increasing the number of states in Nigeria from 36 to 42 and South-East from 5 to 7.

Peter Obi is a progressive politician wandering in the land of conservative politicians,where he never belonged.He is wallowing in the wrong terrain to political power.Which if he allows to keep going would rub him of his natural chances of becoming the President or Vice-president of Nigeria.Obi did not have any political future in aligning with Goodluck Jonathan since the former President is no longer relevant politically.Goodluck Jonathan drastically diminished in value politically after superintending a federal government where corruption thrived like the seed of Lebanon.May Peter Obi never mix with his political mismatches.

I must speak up.Peter Obi might end up in collision course in romancing with a relegated politician like Goodluck Jonathan, whose remaining political value can only Peter off in the alliance front.But,who knows if Obi’s ambition is to settle for FCT Minister in Goodluck Jonathan’s shadow government probably in 2031.Then Obi would be rewarded with the ministerial appointment as promised by Goodluck Jonathan in case he wins in the future.It will be unthinkable for Peter Obi,who is more relevant than Goodluck Jonathan politically,to rather stoop too low to romance with him,who became the President by destiny and not with requisite political structure.

For all I know and care about,Goodluck Jonathan did not have the capacity to install the President of Nigeria,so Obi’s romance with him will end up a futile voyage in the nearest future.Obi-dient movement will do better in the Labour Party,even in the ADC,but worst in the PDP.Peter Obi can still get a meaningful vote in the coalition process than he will in the PDP.Aligning with Goodluck Jonathan would naturally bid Peter Obi farewell from the power circle.So Peter Obi had better stay put in the Labour Party.

The people of the South-East can only enjoy their fair share of the national cake in either the APC or the Labour Party,but never in the ADC and the PDP.The best move by the people of the South-East is to withdraw their supports for Peter Obi Presidency immediately he defects from the Labour Party.Such allegiance should be switched over to possibly Dr. Alex Otti of the Labour Party.That is to mean that Peter Obi might not be good in politics.He is best in trading as a home boy.The South-East should not afford to lose their national political structure in the Labour Party by joining Peter Obi back to the PDP,going by the recent romance between him and his former boss, Goodluck Jonathan.Doing so will lead to the sell-out of our votes to the wrong Presidential Candidate in 2027.

The Labour Party is the mysteriously resurface of Ojukwu-led progressive movement.It is the only political party where the progressive Igbo politicians can be found.Peter Obi loses entirely his progressive worth if he allows himself to be used again by the same Goodluck Jonathan,who used and dumped him after 2011 General Election.Obi should rather allow Goodluck Jonathan draw to the mud his remaining international relevance he enjoys as the 2015 peace-loving ambassador that conceded the Presidential election he truly lost to Buhari.

Before the South-East receive another empty promises from Goodluck Jonathan again,we must be mindful of his perceived romance with Peter Obi to indirectly corner our votes for selfish gains in 2027.A word is enough for the wise!Ndigbo,let us go the Alex Ngozichineke Otti way if we must enjoy the shortest route to the Presidency in the nearest future.

The time is now for Ndigbo to massively enrol for the imminent voter registration and validation exercise of the Labour Party and increase such feat recorded in 2023 General Election.The light to President of Nigeria of the Igbo extraction is beaming on His Excellency, Dr Alex Otti, CON,the Executive Governor of Abia State.Join the Labour Party!
