Tension Grips Isiagu Community Over Kingship Tussle.

A community leader in Isiagu, Awka South Local Government Area and traditional ruler of Ndi Igbo in Ajao Estate, Igwe Fredrick Nwajagu has called on the Anambra State Government to intervene in the lingering community crisis in the community over the Traditional ruler stool.

Nwajagu also asked the State Government to investigate the Certificate of Recognition being paraded by one Mr Austin Nwankwo who had laid claims on the royal stool of the community.

Igwe Nwajagu who was speaking to journalists in Awka narrated that the crisis in the community in 2014 when the said Mr Nwankwo crowned himself King and allegedly commandeered his influence to lay claim to a certificate of recognition which he said to have been issued to him by former Governor Peter Obi.

He explained there was no pictorial evidence or even witnesses from the community who was at the event where he was issued with the certificate of recognition as the traditional ruler of Isiagu community.

The Community Leader recalled that in 2014 Mr Nwankwo allegedly threatened his competitors for the throne with deaths if they continue in the race against him which led stakeholders in the community to summon an emergency meeting and later filed a case in the court in order to resolve the crisis.

According to him, the Community also went to court when Mr Augustine Nwankwo presented the certificate of recognition claiming to have received from the state government during the last batch of certificate presentation by the former Governor Obi.

While stating categorically that the said certificate was fake, misleading and false, Igwe Nwajagu maintained that it is on record that during the last batch of certificate presentation by the former Governor Obi according to publications made by the state printing press, the National Light Newspaper, on Thursday March 27th 2014 on Page 19, only Igwe Joel Egwuonwu of Umuawulu Community was presented with certificate of recognition by Governor Obi in the Obizi quarter of Awka South local government.

He said there was no place Isiagu community was mentioned.

He admitted that the said person only cajoled and bought over some residents of Isiagu to protest at the Governor’s lodge Amawbia and was never presented the certificate till Governor Obi left office.

Igwe Fredrick Nwajagu who claimed to be the Igwe elect of Isiagu community expressed dismay that Mr. Augustine Nwankwo and the former Special Adviser to Governor Obi on Town Union and Chieftaincy Matters, Sir Godfrey Moutolu will conive to deceive and defraud the Anambra state government into believing that any certificate was ever issued.

He called the attention of the Anambra State Government several petitions written to it to review the crisis brewing in the hinterland community

Igwe Nwajagu pleaded with Governor Willie Obiano to as matter of urgency institute a panel of inquiry into the forgery if certificate of recognition Mr Nwankwo of Isiagu community as a way to return normalcy and forestall future crisis that may lead to loss of lives and properties.
