Abia Civil Society Group working on good governance and electoral matters have observed that desperate politicians who are bent on hijacking and manipulating the outcome of the forthcoming bye-election for Aba North and Aba South Federal Constituency this Saturday, March 27, 2021 have recruited their agents who they have also presented to INEC as genuine election observers.

Further to our research these groups are not on ground, neither do they have any track record in the circle of genuine election monitoring in Nigeria.

The intent apparently as we have also observed is to use these elements to put a stamp of legitimacy to their dastardly and evil plans concerning this election by fostering the wrong choice of candidate on the people.

We therefore demand:

  • that INEC as a matter of urgency should disassociate itself from this list of impostors and work with genuine organizations and groups working on electoral matters on ground.
  • that INEC must as a matter of fact do everything within the law to resist every attempt by these agents of disstabilization and promote the genuine efforts of government aimed at enthroning popular cum true democracy.
    .
INEC must be non partisan and be independent and transparent in the whole conduct of the Exercise and ensure that desperate politician didn’t hijack the process.
  • that we the Registered and recognized civil society organizations in Abia state which are on ground have already commenced assessment of the election environment and the conduct of the political parties and will release independent report of the election
