Spain Deploys More Troops As Flash Floods Claims Over 200 Lives
Spain has announced its biggest deployment of troops and emergency services in peacetime to deal with the flash floods in Valencia.
Prime Minister Pedro Sanchez orders five thousand more troops and five thousand police officers and civil guards to the Valencia region – but admitted that it is not enough”
This comes as local authorities face criticism over the speed of the response and lack of warnings in advance of recent heavy rain, more than two hundred people have been confirmed dead, with the toll expected to rise further as recovery efforts continue.
