South Africa Seeks New Markets as U.S. Tariffs Threaten Jobs

South Africa is exploring new trade markets in Africa and Asia as it negotiates with the U.S. to avert 30% tariffs that could cost up to 30,000 jobs.

President Ramaphosa said protecting exports is a priority, while officials called the tariffs unjustified, warning they could hit key sectors like agriculture and autos. The government is also pushing intra-African trade and a continental free-trade zone.
