SON to sanitise local products in Anambra
The Standards Organisation of Nigeria (SON), Anambra State Command has initiated strategies to sanitise local products through enforcing compliance, using various standards, emblems, and logos on products to help consumers’ differentiate between substandard and counterfeit products.
The SON State Coordinator, Engr. Olalekan Omoniyi disclosed this at a one-day Stakeholders collaboration workshop with the theme ‘Promoting Made in Nigeria Products’ held in Awka, Anambra State capital.
“Our responsibility is not only to test products but also to educate the public about the hazard and adverse effects of fake or substandard goods on the health of the people.”
He disclosed that the organisation was in a good working relationship with the National Agency for Food Drugs control (NAFDAC) and the Customs Service in the state to ensure total elimination of fake products.
