SHABBA BAGS BENCH WARRANT FOR FLAUNTING COURT ORDERS

A Chief Magistrate Court 1 being presided over by His Worship Sarah – Joe Ogbuagu Esq sitting in Umuguma within Owerri West Magistral District has issued a bench warrant to Mr. Ogbonna Anthony popularly known as Shabba for his persistence in flaunting court orders.
According to Barr.Obinna Egwu of Chijioke, Obinna and Associates who is prosecuting the criminal case as contained in Suit Number Ow/5524/2021 and titled Commissioner of Police Vs Ogbonna Shabba Anthony, the accused(Shabba) is been arraigned for giving false information to the police.
The Prosecutor pointed out that the court during her recent sitting became worried and slighted on the continual absence of the accused each time the case is mentioned, thus Inspector Itodo Ogbonna who is the IPO in his plea affirmed that since the defendant is absent despite having been served arraignment notice, we ask for the bench warrant, the court in granting the plea stated as follows “thus, the Court is satisfied with the acknowledgement of the arraignment notice by the defendant (Shabba), the Court in his absence in court to answer to the charge against him. Adjourned to Tuesday 30th November 2021 for a report of compliance plea”
Inspector Itodo who’s also of the Police Legal Department, Zone 9 Umuahia, in interaction with Journalists shortly after the end of the Court proceedings as the Investigative Police Officer(IPO) noted that on the 3rd of June,2021 the accused gave information to the police that was later found to have falsely injured the reputations of Messrs Uzochi Anozie(m), Anozie Darlington Uzochukwu(m), Ulocha Daniel Chinedu(m), Ulocha Paul Onyekachi(m) and Uzoma Marshal Chukwudi.
The IPO reported that the defendant information exposed the aforementioned persons to hatred, as he – Shabba publicly said that those people are members of Eastern Security Network (ESN) and were planning to burn down Umuguma Police Station and thereby committed an offence punishable under section 375 of the Criminal Code, Cap C38Laws of the Federation 2004 and applicable in the Imo State of Nigeria.
Adding his voice, Chief Clifford Ofoegbu, a senior citizen and a community leader from Umuome Umuguma in the Owerri West Council area expressed concern over the defendant flagrant abuse of court orders as well as his penchants in intimidating, abusing and harassment of members of the community in the name of self-imposed local vigilante leader.
Ofoegbu informed that the accused person – Shabba has equally been a thorn in the flesh of men of Umuguma Divisional Police Station as he name drops DCP Frank Mba, the Force Police Public Relations Officer and DCO Mike Akareme (rtd) as the men behind his above the law behaviours.
The Community Leader recalled that in 2014 when the same Anthony Ogbonna alias Shabba had a clear case of attempted murder and grievous assaults against the families of Ebochuo and Ohagorom, the accused also abused Courts Arraignment Orders until a bench Wrath was issued to him.
He further revealed that the accused is equally involved in cases of intimidation, terrorism, threat to kidnap, cultism, a threat to life and properties against the Ebochuo family of Umuokorienwaebo kindred of Umuome, Umuguma town of Owerri West LGA as being represented by Pastor Chuks Uzoma Ebochuo.
Reacting, Anthony Ogbonna alias Shabba described all the allegations against him as frivolities and share envy and jealousness.
Ogbonna claimed that all the court orders that non was issued to him without his lawyer attending to them.
