Sen. Akpan promises to assist aides’ families after they were assassinated

The Senator representing Uyo Senatorial district and governorship nominee of the Young Progressives Party, YPP, in Akwa Ibom State, Senator Bassey Albert Akpan has expressed grief over the recent slaying of two of his aides.

It could be recalled that the deceased Imo Isang, and Inspector Linus Odey, respectively Chief of Protocol and escort commander to Senator Akpan were murdered in October in Imo State by unknown gunmen.

Akpan who visited the bereaved families alongside his wife, Imaobong and other party officials said the deceased were irreplaceable and prayed that God should give the families and party members the fortitude to bear the loss.

According to him: “Not even the passage of time can heal the effect of the recent gruesome murder of my close aides, they are truly irreplaceable. I can remember the selflessness, patriotism and commitment to duty of the fallen heroes who were killed on October 7, 2022, in Imo State while on official assignment.”

He described the late Isang as not just his closest staff but “a brother” and Odey as one of the most active and competent police officers he has ever worked with.

Family members who spoke on behalf of the bereaved families thanked the senator and the Akwa Ubok Abasi Campaign Organization for the visit.

Others in the entourage on the visit include YPP Deputy Governorship candidate, AIG Asuquo Amba, State Chairman of YPP, Apostle Nyeneime Andy, DG of the campaign, Pastor Sunny Ibuot and other directors.
