First let me tell you how this trick is done. A bullet is offered to an audience member for confirmation, then marked for identification and loaded into a gun. The gun is fired by an assistant or a volunteer from the audience, directly at the magician’s mouth. Then magician catches it with his teeth, or in a cup that’s been placed inside his mouth. He then presents the exploded shell of the marked bullet to the audience for verification.

1. Chung Ling Soo who died 1918.

Chung trick was always unique. Unlike other the catches to bullet, one real and one fake bullet. One night his assistant mixed up the guns and place the bullet wrongly. Then fired at Chung on stage.

2. The Black Wizard of the West (H.T. Sartell greenhorn) died 1922.

Without any rehearsal Sartell bought some wax bullets and attempted the trick on stage for the first time. His wife was his assistant without realizing that she was harboring some serious ill will towards him. She switched out the wax bullets for real ones and gunned her husband down in front of the audience.

3. Ralf Bialla who died 1975

This was not a big deal for Bialla because he has performed this trick ove 3000 times, he has a set of steel teeth beneath his dentures. In Bialla’s version of the trick, the bullet was fired through three panes of glass then into his mouth via a funnel he made with his hands, clad in steel gloves. But reportedly, one of the long-term effects of catching all those bullets was that he had circulation problems that caused him to black out. After recovering from an injury in 1975, he went for a stroll in the mountains. While admiring scenery over a cliff, he blacked out and that was it for him.

4. Madame DeLinsky died who 1820.

After she secretly paid a solider to load an empty cartridge, now it’s time for the grand performance in Germany before a royal court. One of the riflemen paid for the job got nervous being on stage, and reverted to his usual way of loading the gun. When the bullet hit Madame DeLinsky in the abdomen, several audience members fainted. The Madame died two days later. She was pregnant and lost her unborn child.

5. Arnold Buck died who 1840.

Arnold Buck’s unknowingly picked one troublemaker as a volunteer to load a bullet into a gun. Thou the bullet was blank but the volunteer dropped some nails into the barrel hoping the magician would catch it just to spice up the show, then he fired. And that was it for Buck’s.

6. Professor Adam Epstein who died 1869.

The magician usually uses his wand to ram the ammunition into the barrel of a rifle before the bullet catch. Unfortunately that day the wand broke, and he was killed when one of its flying shards pierced his forehead.
