See how Rotary Club Empowers Physically Challenged Persons, Women, Youths In Awka

The Rotary Club of Awka Nnamdi Azikiwe University, District 9142 has given free sewing machines, wheelchairs, trader’s umbrellas and aprons to some physically challenged persons, women and youths.

The donation, according to the President of Rotary Club of Awka, Nnamdi Azikiwe University, District 9142, Rotarian Abuchi Nwozor, was in fulfillment of one of the cardinal visions of the organization, which is to touch lives by giving back to the society.


The beneficiaries were randomly selected based on their physical and social needs, adding that his vision as the leader of the association is to make Rotary Club of Awka, UNIZIK the first household name when it comes to helping humanity.
He also stated that the donated items were sponsored by his friends, saying that this was just the first batch of the empowerment as there would still be more ahead.
On her part, a former Assistant Governor of Rotary Club, District 9142, Lady Stella Epundu, who also witnessed the event, commended the visionary and selfless leadership of Rotarian Nwozor, adding that the empowerment has proven that he is a man who wants the best out of the society.

Some of the beneficiaries, including Mr Anayo Olisakwe, Mrs Dorathy Nchekwube and Theresa Okoye, expressed gratitude to Rotary Club of Awka, Nnamdi Azikiwe University District, 9142 and its leadership, praying God to replenish and sustain the donors.


During the event, three sewing machines, three brand new wheel chairs, ten aprons and ten business umbrellas were distributed by Rotarian Abuchi Nwozor.
Pioneer Governor of Rotarian International District 9142, Dr Emman Udeakpe, Assistant Governor Zone Seven, Rotarian Emman Nnagbo as well as President Rotary club of Awka Smith Town, Rotarian Chidi Obiudu were among those that attended the ceremony.

The empowerment program was tagged “Economic and Community Development Mega Project”.
