SASA Chairman Nwokoye Honoured With Omere-Ora Title at Ezza Ezekuna New Yam Festival

The Chairman of the Anambra State Special Anti-Touting Squad (SASA), Chief Monday Desmond Nwokoye, has been honoured by the Ezza Ezekuna Community in Anambra State during its New Yam Festival celebration.
Nwokoye, who is also the Ikemba of Okpoto, received the prestigious Omere-Ora title from the Ezza Ezekuna Community Development Forum on Sept. 27, during the celebration held at the Anambra State Broadcasting Service field, Awada, in Idemili North Local Government Area.
The event attracted community leaders, dignitaries and members of the Ezza Ezekuna community residing in Anambra State, who gathered to celebrate their cultural heritage and promote unity among members.
Speaking after receiving the honour, Nwokoye expressed appreciation to the community for the recognition, praying God to grant him greater strength, wisdom and commitment to continue contributing positively to society.
He described Ebonyi indigenes residing in Anambra as peaceful and hardworking people, and prayed for continued prosperity, peaceful coexistence and stronger relations between Ebonyi and Anambra indigenes.
Nwokoye further noted that many Ebonyi indigenes who settled in Anambra had embraced apprenticeship, adding that several of them had successfully completed their training and been settled by their masters.
In his welcome address, Mr. Chinedu Itumo said the festival provided an opportunity to celebrate Ezza Ezekuna heritage, thanksgiving, unity and identity, while fostering stronger bonds among members living in Anambra and across generations.
Itumo said the forum was committed to promoting credible leadership, justice, peace, mutual support and opportunities for youths, while protecting the legitimate interests of Ezza Ezekuna people in Anambra and their home communities.
The community appealed for N100 million to acquire land for the construction of a town hall and also sought support for the purchase of a bus to facilitate transportation and movement of members within Anambra State.
The President-General of the community, Amb. Moses Igwe, and the Planning Committee Chairman, Patrick Nweke, said the festival was organised to unite Ezza Ezekuna people, promote good conduct and strengthen cordial relations between the community and other communities in Anambra State.
