Sacked JAMB Official Vows to Expose Corruption, Challenges Dismissal in Court

Mr. Yisa Usman, a dismissed deputy director of the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB), has reiterated his commitment to exposing corruption within the board despite alleged threats and intimidation. During his testimony at the National Industrial Court in Abuja, Usman claimed his dismissal was linked to his efforts to report financial infractions and corruption involving JAMB’s leadership to various government agencies, including the EFCC, DSS, and ICPC. Usman, who is seeking reinstatement and damages of ₦150 million, argued that his dismissal violated his right to a fair hearing, as he questioned the impartiality of the disciplinary committee that recommended his termination. The court has adjourned the case to February 27, 2025, for JAMB’s defense.
