Rotarian Somadina Okwelogu hands over to Godspower Ollottah as 20th Rotary President of Awka GRA

The Rotary Club of Awka GRA has installed Rotarian Prince Godspower Ollottah as its twentieth President, www.odogwublog.com reports.

The handover ceremony took place at the Milatel Hotel Awka and attracted Rotarians, academia, friends, and well-wishers.

Speaking to www.odogwublog.com correspondent shortly after the handover, the outgoing President, Rotarian Somadina Okwelogu charged the new President to strive for the elevation of the club and shun reliance on members of the club.

“Do everything within your limit; do not go for any competition. Go outside the club, meet people and get them involved. We are executive beggars because if you rely on the members, you may get it wrong.”

While Somadina attributed the success recorded in his administration to his activities behind the scenes, he said one of his best achievements as Rotary President was running a debt free administration.

Somadina lamented that most of his friends abandoned him due to his refusal to spend extravagantly as President and warned the incoming exco to stand firm as a man and resist any pressure that may come in the way of financial management noting that rotary club is known for charity and not for entertainment.

Somadina who said he has passion for Rotary club having being a Rotractor in his days at the university, urged Rotarians to summon courage and take up leadership positions in their respective fields and society.

The Past President, Rotary club of Awka GRA, Rotarian Fidel Okafor commended the smooth transition of leadership and thanked the immediate past President, Rotarian Somadina Okwelogu for his giant achievements that saw to the elevation of the club.

He said “Rotary thrives because everybody wants to hand over to the right person.” He assured the new president of his unflinching support to ensure success of the his administration.

Contributing, PAG, Rotarian Amobi Adirika, wished the incoming Rotary president luck to excel, urging him to pick up from where his predecessor had stopped.

Adirika who said he has had no regrets since joining Rotary in 1984, urged the new president to always dress as expected of a president of the club and ensure promptness in the activities of the club. He also urged the members to always be their brothers keeper and ensure brotherliness by helping themselves the little way they can.

The Vice President, Rotary club of Awka GRA, Rotarian Ken Aniemena PHF (Ugbo -Na – Aga – Aga) said part of what Rotary demands is discipline and urged the president to rise to the challenge and steer the ship of the club. While he urged the new president to lead by example, he urged club members to imbibe discipline especially fashion wise.

Speaking on behalf of Oko Polytechnic Rotractors , the new Rotractor President , Rotract club of Federal Polytechnic Oko, Rotractor Kelechi Ezeakwula who was full of praise for the club, seized the opportunity to invite the members to his hand over ceremony which he said will take place soon.

Meanwhile, the new President, Rotarian Prince Godspower Ikechukwu Olottah in his address, assured to discharge his duties without fear or favour and to the best of his ability.

He pleaded for public support and assured that every member will be carried along in his administration. He also promised that the forerunners of the club will be appreciated, pledging to always seek their advise when the need arises.
