Super Eagles coach, Gernot Rohr, has identified goalkeeper, Daniel Akpeyi, as the player that impressed him in Super Eagles’ 1-0 win over Burundi at the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations, AFCON, on Saturday.
The German tactician also revealed that his side won against Burundi because his players did what they had to do against the East Africans, adding that it was a good win.
”Good win, we did what we had to do, it wasn’t beautiful but the win is more important,” Rohr told reporters after the match in Alexandria.
”We couldn’t make changes because a lot of our players were sick or injured. But we will improve in the next games.
”Akpeyi didn’t concede a goal and I have been impressed with what I’ve seen from him in the past few weeks.”
Nigeria will take on Guinea in the next game on June 26.
