Robbery: Masked armed robbers strike Unizik again

Eleven (11) masked armed robbers Saturday stormed Aso Drive, Williams Lodge, Unizik Awka dispossessing students of their phones and other valuables worth several millions of Naira.

The robbers reportedly shot repeatedly into the air while at Williams Lodge to scare security personnel from coming closer. This happened early hours of the morning on 11th February, 2023.

The robbery started on the first floor and as the gateman tried to interfere, he was slapped on the face by one of the robbers while the others broke down the entrance door and plundered all the occupants except a few at the last floor.

The entrance door was removed from its hinges by the robbers to ease robbery and while this was going on, some occupants were able to call the Chief Security Officer of the Police department, but it was futile, because no aid was offered, neither was the number reachable till after the robbery.

A victim named (Ikechukwu Oluchi), real name withheld by us was aware of the robbery ongoing on the 2nd floor when she went into hiding.
Unfortunately she was caught after the robbers broke into her room and found her. She hid her phone in a safe spot and while she was slapped, she vehemently denied having a gadget.

Another Victim named Okafor Chigozie, was robbed of his laptop and phone which are extremely valuable and usually help ease his school curriculum workload.

A victim who preferred to be known as Christian, narrated how his roommate’s phone was forcefully taken by the robbers whom broke into their room while they lay down flat as the robbers ransacked their room.

The robbers were reported to have fled with sacks and bags of gadgets from the hostel. They left through same route they came.

Lodges at ifite had previously been robbed non-stop, but this robbery at Aso Drive is a shock to everyone, because robbers have never stepped their foot inside the school premises, which is why a lot of students prefer to stay on campus.

The victims and other students called on the security agents to come to their aid, as they ponder on scheduling a date for protest.
