Reps adjourn plenary for a week over unpaid contractors
The House of Representatives on Tuesday adjourned plenary for one week in solidarity with contractors protesting unpaid government debts.
The decision followed a motion urging suspension of sittings until the Finance and Budget ministries settle outstanding 2024–2025 payments. Contractors had barricaded the National Assembly entrance, prompting lawmakers to reject four urgent motions before resolving to give the executive a seven-day ultimatum to clear arrears.
