Re: Students disrupt ANSPOLY convocation over invalid certificates
Attention of the Anambra State Polytechnic Mgbakwu (ANSPOLY) Management has been drawn to the news published by one Joe Chukindi of Daily Post Nigeria on December 7, 2021, where he reported that Students disrupt Anambra Poly’s convocation over issuance of invalid certificate and that ex-students of Anambra State Polytechnic Mgbakwu denied visitors and some management staff entry into the convocation arena?! He also reported that the Commissioner for Education, Prof Kate Omenugha was shut out, and pointed out that the Polytechnic has existed since 2007.
We want to categorically and strongly state that the news is not only engrossed in falsehood and unverified information, but seems to have been deliberately and maliciously intended to discredit the Good works and visions of His Excellency, Chief Willie M. Obiano, Akpokuedike Global, the Executive Governor, Anambra State and Visitor of the Only State-owned Polytechnic, and the untiring efforts of the Governing Council and Management of ANSPOLY in ensuring the Noble Citadel of Learning is kept alive.
Fact is that the Maiden Combined Convocation held as scheduled and no visitors and Management staff were denied entry into the convocation arena. Another fact was that Prof Kate Omenugha was not a visitor to the Polytechnic on the said date and event!
If truly Joe Chukindi of Daily Post Nigeria and one of us in the Media Profession read through his report, one may want to know if he tried getting answers, to just the few questions I will pose here, before rushing to make such misleading publication against a reputable Institution?!:
1. What makes A Certificate valid? Ponder on the below Questions and Answers. Scholarly, education is not terminal!
- When was Anambra State Polytechnic Mgbakwu established? Year 2017.
- Is Anambra State Polytechnic Mgbakwu legally and constitutionally recognized? Yes.
- Does ANSPOLY has constitutionally Right to issue National Diploma (ND) Certificate? Yes.
- Is Anambra State Polytechnic Mgbakwu ANSPOLY NBTE accredited? Yes.
- Is ANSPOLY recognized and enlisted by JAMB? Yes.
- Do we still have Commissioner for Education in Anambra State? No.
- Was Prof Kate Omenugha, the Honourable Commissioner for Basic Education, a visitor to ANSPOLY on Friday, 3rd December, 2021? No.
Let me just give short and factually clear answers to these questions and leave Joe Chukindi of Daily Post and general public to decide whether ANSPOLY Certificate is Valid or not.
Anambra State Polytechnic Mgbakwu (ANSPOLY) came into being by the upgrade of the then Anambra State College of Agriculture, Mgbakwu (ANSCOAM) by the Executive Governor, Anambra State, Chief Dr Willie M. Obiano, on 1st January, 2017 and was established by the Anambra State Polytechnic, Mgbakwu Law 2017, as passed by the Anambra House of Assembly and assented to by His Excellency.
The National Board for Technical Education (NBTE), the Regulatory Body for Polytechnics, Colleges of Education etc, has also given ANSPOLY Accreditation for the Award of National Diploma (ND) Certificate to her Graduands/Graduates and this validates and authenticates all Certificate issued by ANSPOLY.
ANSPOLY is JAMB-ENLISTED Institution and is now in the list of TETFund Approved Institution, all thanks to the Vision, Benevolence and Great Support of the Willingly Working, Amiable, Indefatigable and Proactive Executive Governor of Anambra State, Chief Willie M. Obiano, the untiring and positive efforts of the ANSPOLY Governing Council led by Prof C. P. E. Omaliko and Management led by Dr Nneka C. Mefoh in pursuing the visions of His Excellency, and good support of the Staff and Students of ANSPOLY in ensuring the upholding of the Mission and Vision of the Home for Academics and Progressives.
Having set this record straight, let me inform my Professional Colleague and remind the general public that Anambra State at the moment has Ministry of Tertiary Education, Science and Technology, Solid Minerals and Energy (MTEST) with the Honourable Commissioner Sally Mbanefo as the Head, and Ministry of Basic Education with Honourable Commissioner Prof Kate Omenugha as the Head.
ANSPOLY belongs to the Ministry of Tertiary Education, Science and Technology, Solid Minerals and Energy (MTEST) just as all other Higher Institutions in Anambra State.
Prof Kate Omenugha was never a visitor to ANSPOLY on the said day, and one wonders how and where Joe Chukindi got the information he published as a Journalist?!
Where lies investigative journalism? Do we have to sacrifice Truth and Fact on the altar of sensationalism and sentiments?
I was at the Polytechnic on the Convocation Day, and I am always reachable by phone by everyone; how then would my Colleague in the Media claim that, “Attempt to reach the spokesperson of the Polytechnic, Mr Albert Chukwuanu was not fruitful.”?! How are my addressed?
Once again I want to appreciate you all who have been with ANSPOLY in thick and thin and working to project the Great Legacy of His Excellency in establishing the Institution, and urge you to keep on partnering with the Only State-owned Polytechnic, the Brand ANSPOLY!
While enjoining the General Public to disregard the report of Joe Chukindi, I advise him(Joe Chukindi) to do the needful to redeem his Media Image and that of his Organization and pray other Media Groups to ignore this report that emanated from Joe Chukindi and Daily Post!
