PROSCRIBE NATIONAL, STATE ASSEMBLIES. CHANEL FUNDS MEANT FOR THEM TO YOUTHS DEVELOPMENT – IGBO CHIEFTAIN

Sir Silas Ikeh Igbo statesman, community leader and key member Orlu leaders of thought Imo State Nigeria has called for proscription of the two national assemblies (Senate and House of Representatives) and all state assemblies noting that the huge amount been spent on them are all wastes as their performances has not impacted positively on Nigeria developments even as he advocated that huge funds been spent on these assemblies should be channel to youth development that will enhance the welfare of the nation youths.

Making this suggestion while speaking with newsmen in his residence at New Haven Estate Nkwelle Ezunaka Oyi L.G.A. last Monday, Sir Ikeh a right activist suggested the adoption of Unicameral Legislative Assembly where he proposed that such assembly should be made to be sitting every six months with members not receiving salaries or allowances for such funds should be targeted for development of all youths in the country.

On how to spend the money on youths, he advised both the federal and state government to use such resources to establish at least one viable industry that has capacity to employ more youths in every state of the country while the states will do the same in every local government in the state just as he admonished various local governments do the same by establishing low scale industries in every town. for them to create employments for Nigeria teeming youths.

Said he, the problem of this country is hinged on youths unemployment, if every youth is properly engaged, they won’t have time to engage in lawlessness, destruction, engaging in all manners of evil which is having adverse effect on the country, the excess money been budgeted to the National Assembly is not having positive impact on the people. I am calling for an end to this worthless spending and want the federal government to channel all funds accruable to the national and state assembly to Nigerian youth’s development”

Commenting on the recent intervention of the military in many African countries these days, he blamed it on mis-governance of our present African rulers and said there is the need for all of them to sit-up and govern well, He disagreed on use of force by Ecowas head of state led by Nigeria to stop the trend but suggested that diplomacy and negotiation should be better option to solve the problem and avoid incessant coup in West Africa and Africa in general.
