Prof. Ukwueze Hands Over to Dr. Agbasimelo as the New Head, Mass Communication Department

The Immediate Past Head of Department, Mass Communication, Prof. Cornelius Ukwueze has officially handed over the baton of leadership of the Department to the new HOD, Dr. Chioma Agbasimelo in an emergency Departmental Board meeting held in the Departmental Auditorium.
In his hand over speech, Prof. Ukwueze welcomed all to the Emergency Departmental Board meeting and stated that he came in as HOD without any experience coupled with the dryness of that period and God saw him through with the support of many senior colleagues.
He thanked all his senior colleagues, his teachers, and all who always responded to his distress calls, adding that the job is one which no one person can do.
Continuing, the immediate past Head, Mass Communication, Prof. Ukwueze noted that teaching, invigilation, marking of scripts, computation, and submission of results with other sundry duties were done promptly with no problem or incident recorded.
The University Don further observed that the job of the HOD has series of deadlines, which he never failed, due to the cooperation and support of everyone with no single opposition, and prayed God to provide support to all that supported him at their own time.
While handing over the mantle to the new HOD, Dr. Chioma Agbasimelo, he appealed to all to accord her the same support he received from colleagues in the Department.
He thanked the former HOD, Prof. Chinwe Uzochukwu who he said was willing to lend her support to him all through his tenure and promised to extend the same hand of fellowship to the new HOD.
On the unbundling of the Department, Prof. Ukwueze noted that he has the updated records and will hand over all the documents to the new HOD for continuity.
Responding, the new HOD, Mass Communication, Dr. Chioma Agbasimelo appreciated her predecessor for all he achieved in his tenure, describing him as a good man.
Dr. Agbasimelo announced that a new year prayer has been scheduled on Tuesday, next week, while the final year project defense which is pending needs to be attended to because the students must graduate.
Dr. Agbasimelo enjoined all the staff to join hands with her to move the Department to a greater height.
Highpoint was the formal hand over ceremony by the outgoing HOD to the incoming one and course allocation to the lecturers by the new HOD.
