Prof. Omenugha Appreciates God, As Son Becomes Acolyte

The Vice-Chancellor of Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu University, Professor Kate Azuka Omenugha has expressed her gratitude to God for her Son, Damian Omenugha who was successfully installed as acolyte. 

Professor Omenugha was accompanied by some of her aides, staff, students, and friends to the Basilica of the Most Holy Trinity Onitsha, Anambra State where the installation ceremony took place.

In her brief interview with newsmen in Onitsha, Prof Omenugha, who is the immediate past Commissioner of Basic Education in Anambra State said, “I feel happy and joy. I am grateful to God. I pray that the good God who started the good work will take it to completion from acolyte to deacon and  priestly  ordination”

Recalled that Damian Omenugha is still a student of Iwene Tansi Major Seminary Onitsha and was among the lucky ones who was installed as an acolyte by the Archbishop of Onitsha and Metropolitan of Onitsha Ecclesiastical Province, His Grace, Most Rev. Valerian Maduka Okeke.

Archbishop Okeke had in his sermon during the installation ceremony which featured the ordination of twenty-two deacons and lectors explained that the Holy order is the sacrament by which bishops, priests, and deacons are ordained and receive the power and grace to perform their sacred duties.

He added that a person who agreed to receive the sacrament of Holy order has automatically sacrificed to God as well as excluded from the earthly inheritance, even as he said that consecrated person lives a life of poverty, Chastity, and obedience.

The prelate further said that the duties of the consecrated person are to assist and prepare the people of God to get to Haven by celebrating Mass and sharing the Holy Communion, advising the people to pray for the ordained ones, dash them money or whatever thing they have and never become an obstacle to them.

Some other candidates who were installed acolyte alongside Damian Omenugha included; Obi James, Udechukwu Pascal, Jideofor Bonaventure, Okoli Sylvester, Okoye Casmier,  Nsofor Jude Thaddeus, Ezechukwu Rufus amongstothersr.
