The Nigeria Police Force has deployed 10,000 newly trained constables to their respective states of origin for community policing. This announcement was made on Thursday during the Passing Out Parade held at the Police Training School, Bauchi, following six months of rigorous training. Inspector General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun, represented by Bauchi State Commissioner of Police, Auwal Muhammad, highlighted that the constables underwent an intensive program designed to prepare them to address Nigeria’s complex security challenges while adhering to legal principles. The IG revealed that the recruitment aligns with President Bola Tinubu’s approval of an annual intake of 30,000 police constables over the coming years. This initiative aims to enhance internal security, improve police performance, and ensure effective law enforcement across the nation. Egbetokun noted that the training curriculum focused on modern law enforcement practices, fundamental policing ethics, and community-oriented policing strategies. He urged the new officers to maintain professionalism, integrity, and empathy in their roles while avoiding misconduct or exploitation of their authority. “The uniform you wear symbolizes trust and responsibility. Uphold the principles of fairness, protect citizens, and combat crime effectively while serving as a partner to the public,” the IG stated. He expressed confidence that the strategic deployment of the constables to their home states would bolster grassroots security and support ongoing crime prevention efforts nationwide.
