Police Arrest Man Accused Of Defiling Minor In Ogun

The Ogun State Police Command has arrested a 38-year-old man who was accused of defiling a six-year-old girl.

Addressing journalists at the state police headquarters on Monday, the Public Relations Officer, DSP, Abimbola Oyeyemi, said the suspect was arrested at Magbara Village near Idiroko on Sunday.

The spokesperson said, “He was living in the same house with the parent of the victim and lured the girl into a bush path under the pretence of wanting to send her on an errand after which he forcefully had carnal knowledge of her in the bush.

“It was the shouting and crying of the girl that attracted the attention of the local vigilante who rescued the girl and placed a distress call to the Police at the Idiroko division.

“The DPO Idiroko Csp Aloko Amodu quickly led his men to the scene at Magbara village and promptly arrested the suspect who had been severely beaten by an angry mob.

“Both the suspect and the victim were taken to the hospital for medical attention”.

Subsequently, the Commissioner of Police CP Ahmed Iliyasu, ordered the immediate transfer of the case to the Anti-human Trafficking and Child Labour Unit of the State Criminal Investigation and Intelligence Department for further investigation and prosecution of the suspect.
