Plateau farmers, Herders, remarks by Governnor Lalong and the reactionist: Before the bubble burst

What a political comedy,which played out on Tuesday from the remarks of the Plateau state governor, Barrister Simon Bako Lalong, the chairman of the Northern governor’s forum(NGF)

If politics of opposition now has no regards for security matters,all in the name of playing opposition politics,then whatever thin fence of defense supposedly to be provided by the government over us as citizens,I fear may not be readily available for any protection.

While it is the business of the opposition Political party to hold the ruling party accountable by constructive criticism of some of the policies which may be inimical to the progress and peaceful coexistence of the citizenry remains cardinal,it becomes abysmally shocking too,that a mere statement of fact be twisted all in the name of playing opposition to the government in power.

It is fervently and vehemently unbearable the way and manner crisis and clashes has gained ground in our national growth as a nation,due to the mindless killings perpetrated in our towns,villages and even to some extent the urban areas where by common sense one should assumed the multitude of security apparatus on ground can tackle any of such upheavals.

Unfortunately,the sense of safety is gradually eluding not just the people but the security formations themselves,due to how polarisation of fire arms among citizens which has remain unchecked .

Now back to the comment of the plateau state governor over the bedeviling crisis that unabatedly rocks some communities in plateau state in a television programme precisely on Tuesday.

Without holding brief for the plateau state governor,Simon Lalong,nor seeking for any form of relevance as may be adjudged in some quarters,but in frankness to the people of plateau state ,minding the fact that I am not an exception,the governor ,as a leader(chairman) of the northern governors forum was not biased and favourable to any group.

The press release as read on social media ,platform of the PDP ,which casted aspersion on the governor,by discrediting him even in the face of being frank,that arms have today exchange hands so much that both the farmers and the Herders are guilty of the crime of unlicenced arms possession,is highly disappointing,if that statement truly emanated from the highly revered office of the Peoples Democratic Party , Plateau state chapter.

However and before the bubble burst, it is also time and time without politicisation , government at all levels in Plateau state take the senseless killings of our citizens with all sense of seriousness,with frowning faces against whoever no matter how highly placed and purge out the criminal elements in the state.

It would be recalled that late last year at Lafia,the Nasarawa state capital,a security meeting between the traditional rulers and state governors was convened at the instance of Governor, Simon Bako Lalong and Engineer Abdullahi Sule of Nasarawa state as host.

Pursuant to how best the region can be secured that would enable peace ,progress and the development of North.

At that meeting the governor’s , traditional rulers in a communique arrived at defining step towards tackling the rising Herders ,farmers crisis,which the Emir of Lafia , Justice Sidi Bage was nominated to chair the consultative move with a view to finding a lasting solution.

It would rather be unkind and challant calling for the resignation or concluding that Governor Simon Lalong is not competent,having these garmont of efforts on ground for the return of peace not just to Plateau state alone but in Northern Nigeria.

Consequently,let it also be on note that injury to one is injury to all,and with whatever measure one dished out ,in return,same measure will be dished out to him which goes to mean that if Simon Bako Lalong will play to the gallery all in the quest of pursuing political favours,how long will that last? So also, the opposition should not make itself a nuisance by making commentary’s which may not earn them electoral victories all for want of ridiculing a ruling party and it’s Governor.
