PDP Must Be United To Win 2021 Election – Secondus

National Chairman of Peoples’ Democratic Party (PDP) Hon. Uche Secondus and Chairman, Board of Trustees (BoT) of the party , Senator Walid Jibrin have charged members of the party in Anambra state to be united in the forthcoming governorship elections to able to capture the state.

The duo who spoke at a grand reception, organised by the Anambra Central Senatorial District Party Executive in honour of the State Chairman, Chief Ndubuisi Nwobu, held in Awka at the weekend also urged Ward leaders to use their influence as grassroots mobilizers to brace up for the forthcoming gubernatorial election slated for 2021.

Secondus represented by the National Youth leader of PDP Hon. Sunday Udeh- Okoye said there is only one party chairman in the state led by chief Ndubuisi Nwobu. According to him, Anambra PDP members must be united and join hands with Nwobu led executive in organising credible primary that would be accepted by the aspirants to secure the governorship seat in the state.

” If you are united as one family and put party interest above individuals interests, the party will produce the next governor in the state at the forthcoming gubernatorial election. Anambra is a PDP state and this is time we have to take over what rightly belong to us .

It is clear now that among all political parties in Nigeria, it is only the PDP that can take the state and the country to the promise land. We must be united to deliver the party in 2021 ” he said.

According to him, the party is happy with Nwobu led executive and urged every member to work harmoniously with the executive. Also addressing executive members of the party from 21 local government areas of the state at the occasion, the BoT chairman Walid , highlighted the importance of party structures, noting that all hands must be on deck as the next year gubernatorial election in the state will determine the future of the state and the faith of Ndi-Igbo in the Nigeria political structure.

He also re-emphasized on the importance of cordial relationship between the party and the citizenry especially those at the grassroots, if the party must win.

Senator Jibrin, called for massive grassroots mobilization by the wards executive, noting that the landmark achievements of the past administration of Mr. Peter Obi was great hence the need for continuity.

In his welcome address, the State Chairman, Chief Ndubuisi Nwobu, expressed satisfaction with the level of commitment by the state executive towards the unity of the party and also expressed hope that PDP would produce a governor who understands governance and cares for Anambra people and the growth of the state.

He assure the national leadership that the party under his watch, would do everything legitimately possible to win the governorship election comes 2021.

According to him, the event was part of a unifying strategies put in place by the party leadership to bring party members closer to each others, especially the aspirants ahead of primary.

The event had attendance the National Vice Chairman, Chief Austin Umahi, Senator Ben Obi, Chief Josephine Anenih, Mr. Valentine Ozigbo. Others in attendence include some of the governorship aspirants, Dr. Obiora Okonkwo, Honourable Chris Azugbogu, Dr. Godwin Maduka and the member representing Ogbaru 1 Constituency in Anambra House of Assembly, Honourable Noble Igwe.

In their separate speeches, the party chieftains noted that the occasion was timely and apt for unity. They commended the leadership of the party both at the state and national levels for their commitment towards the future of the party in Anambra state.
