An acclaimed member of Abioye ruling house in  Awo, Egbedore Local
Government area of Osun State, Mr.  Ibrahim Yisa Ijadunola Abioye has
warned the State Governor, Alhaji Isiaka Gboyega Oyetola, the two
living kingmakers, the Balogun and Jagun of Awoland respectively and
other concerned members of the State Executive Council, against the
purported plan to appoint one Mr. Taiwo Adegboye as the  new Alawo of
Awo by the Special Adviser to  Governor Oyetola on Local Government
and Chieftaincy Affairs,Mr. Rasaq Adeosun  on behalf of State
Government.

It would be recalled that it has been reported in the media recently
that Mr. Adeosun has been alleged of receiving sum of Three million
naira (N3, 000,000) from Taiwo Adegboye through the outgoing Chairman
of Egbedore Local Government area of the State, Mr. Olayiwola Abiola
Lamby, to hatchet their purported installation of Taiwo as new Alawo
of Awoland.

Although, the two living  kingmakers of the ancient town had earlier
declared that they did
not aware of any purported selection process by the state government
through the Special Adviser to the Governor on Local Government and
Chieftaincy affairs, Mr. Adeosun.

Also, Taiwo Adegboye who is an outgoing Leader of the Legislative Arm
of the Council area in connivance with Mr. Abiola Lamby, have been
alleged of nominating the names of  Taiwo’s brother and sister as
Warrant Chiefs to do their illegal and barbaric installation of Taiwo
as new Alawo.

But, according to the Chieftaincy Declaration on Alawo of Awo, four
ruling houses namely Awojobi,Akinsilo, Abioye and Okunji, are entitled
to the throne on order of rotation. While seven royal families
belonging to Abioye ruling house and they included, Adegboye, Shittu
Eruobodo, Adetoyi,Gboyelade, Adeniyi,Olawuyi and Adesola/Aremu.

Awo which is the Headquarters of Egbedore Local Government area of the
State lost its traditional ruler, Oba Musa Olatunbosun Adebayo from
Akinsilo Ruling House on 24th of June, 2020 and since then, the
controversy has surrounded the appointment of new monarch for the
ancient town with litigation and counter litigation.

Approaching the Judicial division of State High Court 2 sitting in Ede
to express his grievances on the allege purported plan to install
Taiwo Adegboye as new Alawo through the backdoor by Mr. Adeosun ,
Ijadunola  Abioye in a suit No:HED/31/2020, challenged Governor
Oyetola, the State Attorney-General and Commissioner for Justice,
Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Egbedore
Local Government area,Awo, the remaining two living kingmakers, Chief
Dauda Babalola and Chief Saka Adesola, the Balogun and Jagun of
Awoland respectively and Taiwo Adegboye.

The plaintiff, through his Counsel, Alhaji Sikiru Adewale, requested
two prayers from the Court; to give an order that a bonafide member of
the Plaintiff is entitled to be installed as the next Alawo of Awo in
Egbedore Local Government area of Osun State and order of perpetual
injunction restraining the 1st to 6th defendants, their servants,
agents and/ or privies from installing the 7th defendant (Taiwo
Adegboye) as the next Alawo of Awo in Egbedore Local Government area
of Osun State.

And the case has been adjourned to January 21st, 2020 for hearing.
